In 1945, a gathering of school baseball mentors assembled in New York City to plan thoughts for the advancement and change of the university diversion. Mentor Eppy Barnes, Colgate University, and mentor Joe Bedenk, Pennsylvania State University, started the thought that school baseball required association and heading. Preceding 1945, a review uncovered that one and only third of the more than 600 universities were playing baseball. More than 140 mentors reacted to the review favoring the development of a school baseball drilling association.
