JVC or Victor Company of Japan is the Japnese producer of electronics and is based in Yokohama, Japan. Apart from general customers, it designs its products for professionals. JVC was set up in 1927 as "The Victor Talking Machine Company of Japan, Limited," and was the unit of Victor Talking Machine Company of the USA. In 1929, the ownership of the company was purchased by RCA-Victor. JVC developed several records, phonographs and radios in 1930's. It produced first TV set to be made in Japan in 1939. Panasonic Corporation has been the owner of JVC from 1953 to 2007. JVC designed a portable TV set, Videoshphere in the Shape of space helmet in 1970. It was equipped with alarm clock. Videoshphere was appreciated for its unique design and gave a Boost to the JVC's business. JVC came up with CD-4, which was the first discrete system for gramophone records in 1971. The company was successful to invent the all in one system comprising of TV, Radio and cassete recorder, 3060 in 1976.
JVC started producing the Victor HR-3300, which is the first VCR to support VHS in 1976. The continuous experiment made by JVC in the video and audio field result in the introduction of several devices like VHD disc system, direct drive cassette system, portable audio equipment, Personal computer etc. in the decade of 80's. It launched its first VHS-C camcorder in 1983 while introduced its digital camcorder in 1995.
