Lakehead University is a public coeducational institution that was formed in 1946 as Lakehead Technical Institute. In the year 1965, it has become a public university and changed its name to Lakehead University. It has two campuses: Thunder Bay campus and Orillia campus. Thunder Bay campus is the main campus of the university which is located on 32 hectares of land in Ontario, Canada. Lakehead University offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of law, engineering, medicine, social sciences, management, business, chemistry, biology, general arts, computer science, music, nursing, mathematics, visual arts, sociology, women's studies and more. The university provides its academic programs through nine faculties, among them few are Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Faculty of Natural Resources Management, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Law. Lakehead University is the member of the International Association of Universities, The Association of Commonwealth Universities, The Council of Ontario Universities etc. The university also provides sports facilities to their students. Its sports teams are known as "Lakehead Thunderwolves". There are two main athletic facilities located on Lakehead's Thunder Bay campus namely- the Fieldhouse and the Hangar.
