University of Guelph Athletic Centre is Associated With and Known as:
University of Guelph Athletics is the university’s athletic department. The university teams are popularly known as Guelph Gryphons. The name comes from Gryphons, an animal which represents the strength of the lion and the intelligence of the eagle. The university athletics program is sponsored by Russell Athletics and many of its programs are associated with Ontario University Athletics and Canadian Interuniversity Sport, to compete for both provincial and national championships.
